Keep The Magic

So I’ve had a pretty incredible and certainly a ‘different’ week! On Sunday night (well, reallllyyyyy early on Monday morning!!) I was lucky enough to be getting on a coach and making my way to Disneyland Paris with an amazing group of North East musicians; an absolute dream for any musician and Disney nerd!
After a long day lambing and milking (I’m not complaining, the life of a vet student is great), I had just enough time for a shower, food and a very brief (but very much needed!) nap, before heading over to catch the coach headed for Paris. Not going to lie, I spent a large

portion of the journey there just sleeping, but in the time I was awake I was amazed by just how quickly a coach full of strangers became a coach full of friendly faces-yes even at 7 o’clock in the morning! I spend a lot of my time in my blog posts talking about how easy it is to talk to vet students, how friendly and supportive they are, and just how close knit we become; from experience, although I encounter it less frequently now, musicians are just as friendly.
For anybody who hasn’t met me, I’m just going to throw this out there: I am a MAJOR Disney nut! With this in mind, I honestly can’t even express how exciting it was to be going to one of the places where everything is about fantasy, perfection, and, of course, magic. It was definitely an experience I couldn’t turn down!

When we got to Disneyland the following day, we were led behind the scenes to the stage in ‘Videopolis’, part of Discoveryland, where we entertained Disney’s guests with renditions of ‘Game of Thrones’, ‘Dr Who’, and ‘Harry Potter’, chosen to keep a British feel to the performance and share some of the culture associated with our home. The band sounded absolutely brilliant and really did themselves proud.

So here’s proving that no matter how tough Vet School gets, there is always time to do what you love. I for one, don’t plan on saying goodbye to music any time soon! It’s so easy to get wrapped up in the lecture-revision-assignment routine, but keep making time for you- there’s more to life and more to you than just veterinary studies!

I’d just like to say a massive thank you to Off Key Music, for their permission to use some of the photographs featured in this post, and, of course, for letting me be part of their big Disney adventure!

Of course, had to take the opportunity to be a child and watch at least one parade!
